About Us

The Parish Council comprises three employed part-time members of staff to manage the day-to-day operations of the Council and 10 unpaid councillors who are elected every four years by the electors of the parish.

The Councillors are governed by a mandatory code of conduct, which includes obligations to act in an appropriate way.

Councillors have three main components to their work:
•    Decision making on money spent, services delivered and policies implemented
•    Monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of services
•    Getting involved locally in meeting the wider community and involving local organisations

The Parish Council meets as a Full Council every two months. It is supported by three committees:
•    Planning and Highways
•    Open Spaces and Amenities
•    Finance

Council Officers

Supporting the parish are two Accredited Community Safety Officers and a Maintenance Officer. The ACSOs and Maintenance Officer report to the Executive Officer and work on a part-time basis.

Together, all Council Officers work in partnership with Councillors to make Swanmore a great place to live and work.
